- Guideline
for Processing Resource Consents for Dams and Associated Activities
To develop and trial a guideline to assist Regional Councils in
the efficient and effective processing and monitoring of resource
consents for activities associated with dams and reservoirs, under
the Resource Management Act 1991. The guideline will provide practical
guidance to regional councils when assessing the environmental
effects of dams (including dam safety and reservoir integrity)
and developing appropriate consent conditions and monitoring plans.
The guideline will also provide valuable assistance to dam owners
in preparing effective assessment of environmental effects and
consent applications. Project outcomes will include;
1.A greater understanding of responsibilities and requirements
under the RMA,
2.Efficient and effective productions of AEE's
3.More efficient consent processing resulting in reduced costs,
4.Appropriate level of consideration given to dam safety and environmental
issues,
5.Appropriate consent conditions and monitoring plans, reduction
in risk to the environment and communities.
