Keynote Speaker - Jack Opiola


Our keynote speaker, Jack Opiola, will address the workshop on Monday 15th September (9.00am).

John A.A. "Jack" Opiola is International Director, Intelligent Transport Systems for Hyder Consulting Limited, an international engineering company.

Based in London, UK, he is responsible for the overall corporate development of ITS in Hyder Consulting's offices in the UK, Middle East, Far East, and Australia.

Jack is a graduate engineer of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York. He received his Operations Research/Systems Analysis Degree from the University of Texas at El Paso and his MBA from Columbia University in New York City.

Jack has over fifteen years working with electronic toll collection (ETC) systems and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in the USA and around the world. This has included work in New Zealand on the proposed NZ Transport Information System, and the electronic Road User Charging (eRUC) Business Case Analysis.

Jack will be talking about the role of Road User Charging / Congestion Pricing in the UK and around the world and its role in meeting Sustainable Transportation goals. He will also be addressing the potential of electronic road user charging to help manage and achieve sustainable transport objectives.

Jack will reference his experience and work in the UK, Ireland, USA, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore and New Zealand.
