MEMBERSHIP DETAILSThe IPENZ Transportation Group is the pre-eminent professional body for traffic engineers and transportation planners in New Zealand. Membership benefits include receipt of quarterly editions of "Roundabout", the group's flagship publication, keeping members up to date on developments in the profession. Members also can attend the annual IPENZ Transportation Conference and local branch meetings and activities in our five branches. Members of the group have the opportunity to be involved in preparing submissions on all major transportation issues, legislation and policies. A number of our members are not engineers and only about half are members of IPENZ, so membership of IPENZ is not a prerequisite. If you'd like to become a member, download this application form (PDF, 24kB), and post it or scan it to the address shown on the form. 2009 Changes to Membership Classes of the Transportation GroupThe rules of the Transportation Group were changed at the 2008 AGM to provide two classes of membership of the Group. These are "Affiliate" and "Member". Since the beginning of 2009, all those who have had their applications approved by the National Committee have been allocated either affiliate membership or membership. During 2010, the National Committee will reallocate the Group membership to either affiliate or member status. Currently the criteria for this is whether the member is a member of IPENZ. The Group rules allows the National Commitee to also consider each member's experience and contribution to the profession when considering membership class. His contact details are here.Membership ListA list of members can be found in the Members' Only area.Life MembershipLife membership recognises persons who have rendered exceptional and extended service to the transportation engineering profession and particularly the work of the Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand Transportation Group (IPENZ TG). Any member or retired member, who has made a very significant contribution as described above, may be nominated for Life Membership of the IPENZ Transportation Group.The process for nominating and the criteria for consideration of the nomination is here. A note regarding Membership of the Transportation GroupAny member of the IPENZ Transportation Group must identify their membership of the IPENZ Transportation Group by using only the statement that they are either "an affiliate member of the IPENZ Transportation Group" or a “Member of the IPENZ Transportation Group” and must not use any postnominal such as MIPENZ unless they are a competence graded Member of IPENZ.
