New Zealand Engineering Excellence Awards
- Begun in 2005, the New Zealand Engineering Excellence Awards are the premier awards for the engineering professionals of New Zealand. The awards are presented in two major areas: Individual Awards, that recognise leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship and our young engineers; and Category Awards, that recognise achievement in the various industry areas, together with a Supreme Award for the best of the Category winners.
Entries for the prestigious New Zealand Engineering Excellence Awards 2006 are open to spotlight the achievements of engineers and their organisations and draw attention to the key roles the profession plays in addressing national goals through engineering innovation, entrepreneurship and the development of infrastructure.
"The purpose of the awards is to recognise the efforts made by engineers and the role they play in society. They also remind us of the broad range of talents and ability to innovate that exists here in New Zealand," said Charles Willmot, IPENZ Director – Engineering.
Last year’s inaugural New Zealand Engineering Excellence Awards were well supported and received an extremely high standard of entries for the individual and group categories, producing a diverse portfolio of finalists. The black tie banquet drew a cast of 385 engineers, guests and politicians to honour the profession’s Oscar winners.
This year the New Zealand Engineering Excellence Awards dinner is being staged in Wellington on 22 November 2006 (tbc) by a consortium of four partner organisations:
- Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ)
- Centre for Advanced Engineering (CAE)
- INGENIUM (Association of Local Government Engineering New Zealand Incorporated)
