Welcome to the Canterbury Branch of IPENZIPENZ (The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand) is the body which represents more than 11000 professional engineers, from a range of disciplines. The Canterbury Branch has over 1800 Members. In November each year the Annual General Meeting is held and a Branch Committee is elected to run the Branch for the next 12 months. The Committee members organise a programme of monthly meetings which include: presentations by local and visiting speakers; site visits; the annual Pickering Lecture; and the President’s Visit. These events provide opportunities for Members to meet socially and to network. The Branch seeks to raise awareness of engineering issues in the wider community and collaborates with other organisations such as ICE and IET, with technical groups and with Canterbury University as opportunities arise. The Branch is active in Futureintech, an IPENZ initiative funded by Government to promote careers in technology, engineering and science. Graduates are recruited by Futureintech Facilitators to work alongside students, their teachers and careers advisers to support curriculum activity and provide first-hand examples of a career in technology, engineering or science.
