Glass, electronics, ceramics, precision equipment and other fragile items can be transported safely over long distances when protected by a packaging system which quickly moulds low-density urethane foam around individual contours. Made in New Zealand and supplied at a much lower cost than imported equivalents, the system is fully supported by the sole suppliers Polymer Developments Group of Auckland. The plastic foam, Endurapack 0810, is squirted or premoulded into inexpensive plastic bags which set firmly against the items to be protected. Commissioning and operator training takes less than two hours and the system can be started up in 15 minutes. Freephone 0800 999 001. The long awaited Standards Australia and Standards NZ draft Standard, entitled Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems - Specification with Guidance for Use, was released in July. The new standard, to be called AS/NZ 4801, will be important to organisations that want to develop occupational health and safety management systems (OHSMS). One of Australia's most widely used hydraulic pumps has been upgraded by high force tool specialist Enerpac to achieve greater performance with less noise. The 20 Series electric Hushh Pumps feature a powerful 0.7kW motor which will start at full load and stand up to continuous duty applications. Major features include a timesaving two speed design; available in three reservoir sizes (4.5, 9 and 20 litre); single-phase motors wired for 230 VAC, five basic pumps. E-mail: info@enerpac.com.au. Algor Inc of Pittsburgh, manufacturers of software for mechanical engineers, have new Release 12 software, the company's most comprehensive range since 1990. The software features an all-new unified software user interface with live data checking to prevent input errors during a finite element analysis (FEA). Improved data input screens, CAD interfacing features and engineering capabilities support the new user interface. The software is available for Windows 95 or 98 and PC workstations running Windows/NT. E-mail: info@algor.com. Dallas Semiconductor has announced three new devices in its family of EconOscillators. Each of the reprogrammable, single-chip devices provides system reference frequencies using less board space than alternative devices. They extend the family by adding 3-volt operation, industrial temperature range operation, and TO-92 packaging. EconOscillators provide design engineers onboard programmable clock reference frequency. Multiple output frequencies in the 30 kHz to 100 MHz range are possible through the use of a master oscillator followed by a user-programmable, on-chip prescaler and divider. Software exporter and developer Delphic Medical Systems Ltd has developed an Internet based product to help New Zealand businesses in the manufacturing and other sectors comply with stringent OSH laws. Their research showed organisations were finding it difficult and expensive to comply with OSH regulations. Whoosh is an Internet based compliance system. With a monthly subscription an organisation can register on Whoosh's Internet site (www.whoosh.co.nz) and obtain advice, manuals, a system for registering hazards, accidents and training etc. Freephone 0800 4 WHOOSH. XPEX of Wanganui has achieved ISO 9001 certification and utilises amongst the world's most advanced technology in the tool-making industry. The company specialises in the design, manufacture and precision engineering of tools for die-casting and plastic injection/vacuum moulding, and also in high order multi-axis council machining. XPEX has Silicon Graphic's technology combined with Delcam's Duct 5 CAD/CAM software, giving the company the advantage of being able to generate complex, precise 3D concepts.Phone 06-343 1641.
