Cabac
has released girder clips used to directly clip either cables or conduits
to a steel beam, angle section etc. They directly clip onto the metal
flange or web. Two sizes are available that will fit most applications
covering conduit sizes 16-32 mm. The two sizes cover cable OD 11-32
mm. The clips are manufactured from zinc electroplated spring steel
for a longer working life, are easy to install, and are available in box
quantities of 100. Freephone 0800 442 182.
The
generous dimensions of car windows these days have one disadvantage: the
temperatures in the car interior soar when it is exposed to direct sunlight.
Special TROSIFOL composites in combination with a laminated PET foil -
the Solar Control System - reflect 25 percent of the incident sunlight,
thereby lessening the build-up of heat in the interior, especially in the
area of the head. It also relieves the burden on the air conditioning
system, which again reduces fuel consumption. Laminated glass with
TROSIFOL in door and side windows also increases the resistance of the
glass to break-ins on the basis of its structure. It provides additional
comfort by reducing noise in the interior and is substantially less prone
to condensation. Passengers also have additional protection in the
event of a side-impact crash. Visit http://www.ht-troplast.com.
Demolition
work has started for the redevelopment of Auckland's Prince's Wharf.
The first stage of construction includes the refitting of four of the wharf's
sheds into 235 apartments, commercial and retail space, and the redevelopment
of the currently open space below the Ports of Auckland Authority Building.
The design also incorporates new passenger terminal facilities for cruise
ships to be completed in time for the year 2000 and the America's Cup Challenge.
Developed by the Kitchener Group, the design revitalises a 3.03-hectare
site on Auckland's Waitemata Harbour at the foot of Queen Street.
The completed project will be worth in excess of $100 million. Phone 0-9-308

For
the construction industry the new Wellington Westpac Trust Stadium is the
first significant use of lightweight concrete in New Zealand. Fletcher
Construction is the main contractor, and lightweight concrete has been
chosen for several reasons: Reduced foundation loads; reduced costs related
to earthquake loadings; considerably reduced transport costs; fewer cranes
needed and extended crane reach; components can be manufactured in larger
pieces and need fewer joints; durability is better than standard concrete.
