New Zealand Engineering

1998 IPENZ Wellington Branch Award
The Wellington Branch Committee gives this award to a Victoria University engineering intermediate student on the basis of academic progress during the engineering intermediate course, school performance including extra curricular leadership, sporting and cultural achievements, as well as a written submission.

This year's award was given to Damian Grant who is currently a first profession year civil engineering student at Canterbury. Damian's academic record, particularly mathematics, was outstanding, and in addition to this his written submission was very impressive. In this he emphasised the need for engineers to have teamwork and leadership skills as well as a commitment to developing a safer, more productive society. In winning the award Damian received a cheque for $1500 and student subscription to IPENZ. The Wellington Branch Committee congratulates Damian particularly given the very high calibre of all the candidates. We wish him every success with his studies and future career.
