New Zealand Engineering 1998 November New Zealand Engineering Job Management Skills for Engineers and ArchitectsThe Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers, Australia (APESMA) is currently developing a new job management intensive two day short course programme specifically designed for engineering and design professionals working in engineering consultancy practices. The program will be focused on improving the business performance of engineers and architects through applying industry best practice job management to internally managing the implementation of client briefs. This highly relevant programme will be delivered by Mr Tom Crow, BE, Mbuild, FIEAust, MIMC, a leading practitioner in the engineering consulting industry. Tom started his professional training experience in 1967 when he lectured in the critical path method at the University of British Columbia. Since then, whilst continuing to practise as a project manager and management consultant to the capital works industry, his career has included assisting other project managers and their teams to enhance their skills and improve the performance of their projects. Tom formed his own company in 1983. His company then joined with another in 1995, to form a broad-based engineering firm. Tom's consulting assignments have covered the full range of capital works developed phases of project initiation, project management, information management and asset management. Major project management briefs have included, Homebush Bay Olympic Infrastructure, Collins Place Regent Hotel Melbourne, Damansara Utama Town Centre, just to mention a few. Completion of this programme together with an action learning assessment will provide participants with the opportunity to credit towards the APESMA/Deakin University Graduate Certificate of Management (Technology Management).
