The Earthquake Risk Buildings Study Group of the New Zealand National Society for Earthquake Engineering has written a background paper to be read alongside the suggested changes to the Building Act Provisions produced by the Building Industry Authority. The paper outlines why the changes are necessary and discusses the engineering criteria that provide the details required to implement the changes, along with a proposed building grading scheme.
