SMC Pneumatics has extended its range of compressed air tubing with the new TRBU Series of flame resistant, double layer polyurethane tubing. The new series complements the existing range of polyethylene, nylon, soft nylon, polyurethane, flat profile and coiled tubing. A survey for the Buy NZ Made Campaign shows Australians tend to favour New Zealand made goods, especially higher income and older people. Queenslanders and those from New South Wales are the most likely to buy New Zealand goods. The kiwi is the most recognised symbol followed by the silver fern. The high quality of New Zealand goods was acknowledged. For value for money New Zealand came in ahead of the US but behind Australia and Japan.

A Canterbury consortium has solved a long-standing cargo loading problem. For years transporters have been searching for a swing lift trailer that can load containers from both sides. Timaru transport engineering firm Rod MacKenzie Truck Specialists Ltd and its partner, consulting engineers AMES of Christchurch, have patented a 2-way swing lift trailer that can load a fully laden container from either side. Cable Accessories of Australia has manufactured copper bell mouth lugs from 99.9 percent oxygen-free copper, which gives the best electrical properties possible. They are capable of withstanding a continuous operating temperature of 155°C, which is well above the normal capabilities of copper lugs. The lugs are suitable for applications involving the use of fine stranded flexible and welding cables, and are available in conductor sizes ranging from 16 mm² up to 185 mm².
