The Chartered Institute of Transport in NZ Inc has adopted a
socially responsible funding policy for transportation services and infrastructure.
The seven-point policy advocates a mixture of government and user

A fourth local authority, Palmerston North City Council, has changed
its water network connection arrangements as the result of a Commerce
Commission project to ensure all local authorities are aware of and
comply with the Commerce Act. The Commission began focusing on local authorities
last year because it was concerned most has poor knowledge of the Act and
some did not realise it applied to them. The project will continue with
investigations and education activity as long as is required.

Polymer Developments Group distribute the Vulkem system,
a lightweight elastomeric membrane suitable for re-surfacing and waterproofing
leaking car parks. The system is both adhesive and completely seamless.
The finished surface is non-slip, UV resistant and permanently elastic

The Minister for the Environment, Simon Upton, is seeking nominations
for the 1998 Green Ribbon Awards to be announced on World Environment
Day (5 June). The Awards recognise outstanding contributions by individuals,
organisations, or businesses in protecting and improving the quality of
our environment. Nominations should be sent to the Ministry for the Environment
by 30 April 1998.

gasless, wire feed, cordless welder. Potential users include farmers,
off-road enthusiasts, contractors, plumbers and electricians. The Century
131 will complete 1500 mm of welding before recharging, which takes 8-12
