| Media Release Futureintech launch See more on: Futureintech Information Technology and Communications Minister Paul Swain unveiled a multi-million dollar government initiatives today, in response to the report of the ICT Taskforce. One of them is Futureintech, a $5.6m initiative over four years run by IPENZ to promote careers in technology, engineering and science careers to school students and the people who influence their career choices. Projects philosophy The project’s philosophy is to provide long-term support in a way that fits in with the practices of classroom teachers and engages students and their caregivers. The project began in October and until mid-2007 will employ facilitators to work in primary, intermediate and secondary schools throughout New Zealand. With their support programmes will provide students with first-hand experience of work in technology, engineering and/or science. A website and publications will provide career information for students, caregivers, teachers and careers advisers. The project will call upon IPENZ members to volunteer their help in various
capacities – for example to supply material for individual profiles
or company case studies. |
