IPENZ appoints New Vice President – Garry MacDonald
IPENZ, Engineers New Zealand have elected Garry MacDonald as their new 2008 Vice President. He has worked in the fields of environmental and wastewater engineering in New Zealand and internationally for over 30 years.
Garry has been involved in the management and construction phases of wastewater schemes or wastewater treatment plants in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Gisborne, Napier, Hastings, New Plymouth, Wellington, Christchurch, Timaru, Oamaru and Dunedin.
Garry has held Vice President and President positions on the of the New Zealand Water & Wastes Association (NZWWA) and has represented New Zealand on the Board of Directors for Water Environment Federation (WEF), an association of more than 40,000 international members based in Washington, DC.
Garry has presented and had published national and international technical papers on topics relating to water and wastewater. He was received distinguished national and international awards for his services to the water and environment profession.
Garry currently works as a Project and Technical Director of Environmental Engineering with Beca Ltd. He has a Bachelor of Engineering (First Class Honours) and Master of Engineering (Distinction), both from the University of Canterbury and is a Fellow of IPENZ.
