Entries for $5,000 Journalism Prize Invited at
NZ Engineering Excellence Awards

Talented media professionals promoting the understanding of engineering will have the chance to compete for a $5,000 prize at the New Zealand Engineering Excellence Awards 2008.

The Award for Excellence in Engineering Journalism is awarded to a journalist who has most improved the public’s understanding of the engineering industry’s role and contributions to society through fair and accurate writing. The Award is open to print, radio and television journalists.

Stories can be on all fields of engineering, building, construction, amenities, roads, transport, information/communication technology, food, bioprocess, chemical, medical, mechanical, manufacturing, electrical, sustainability, clean technology or an actual engineer in person.

Journalists meeting the following criteria are eligible to enter:

  • The Award is limited to stories from the general media in New Zealand – in-house publications and trade are ineligible.
  • The article or program must have appeared in the public area after 1 July of the previous year.
  • A single story/program or a series is eligible

The Awards consists of a cash prizes to a total value of $5,000.00. A certificate will also be awarded.

An indication of interest on pending entry should be received by 1 June.

Entries and all supporting material must be received by 1 July.
