Wayne Stewart elected Fellow of IPENZ
March 2005

Wayne Stewart, leadership coach, Opus International Consultants, was elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for his contribution to the advancement of engineering practice; specifically recognising his contributions to engineering project evaluation methods for the roading sector.

He has been at the forefront of the development and application of evaluation methods where a range of alternatives must be considered, and in which intangible and imprecise criteria (including social, community and environmental impacts) must be considered.

He has shared his knowledge though contributing to the Centre for Advanced Engineering publication on assessment of environmental effects and writing the chapter on evaluation methods, and its use on large urban transportation projects such as Auckland’s eastern transport corridor.

“Becoming a Fellow is an honour bestowed by ones professional peers on high-achievers who have made a difference to the engineering profession. More often than not a Fellows contribution to the profession also benefits New Zealand as a whole, as the work of engineers’ impacts on New Zealand society,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.

Wayne Stewart was presented with his Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held at Auckland’s Ellerslie Convention Centre, on Thursday, 17 March 2005.
