Robert Park elected Fellow of IPENZ
March 2005
Robert Park, Bridge Design Engineer, Director Novare Design Limited,
will be elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers
New Zealand (IPENZ) for his contribution to the advancement of engineering
practice; specifically recognising his contributions to development of
bridge design.
He is widely regarded as a leading innovator in bridge designs, applying
the most recent national and international research. He has also developed
specific structural systems for contractors which can be re-used on a
number of projects. Many designs which he pioneered in New Zealand are
now being widely applied by others. He understands the need to work cooperatively
with contractors, and his work is an exemplar to others in this respect.
“Becoming a Fellow is an honour bestowed by ones professional peers
on high-achievers who have made a difference to the engineering profession.
More often than not a Fellows contribution to the profession also benefits
New Zealand as a whole, as the work of engineers’ impacts on New
Zealand society,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.
Robert was presented with his Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held
at Auckland’s Ellerslie Convention Centre, on Thursday, 17 March
2005.
