Timothy Keals-Smith elected Fellow of IPENZ
March 2005

Timothy Keals-Smith, Engineering Director, Structures, Maunsell Ltd, was elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for his contribution to the advancement of engineering practice; specifically recognising his contributions to civil aspects of power station design. The advanced level of his practice knowledge has been recognised by his involvement in a number of offshore power station projects.

His expertise is in combined cycle power station design where the civil/structural aspects of the project must be carefully integrated with the other disciplines. He has had long-standing involvement with the Structural Engineering Society and has contributed as a practice area assessor to IPENZ.

“Becoming a Fellow is an honour bestowed by ones professional peers on high-achievers who have made a difference to the engineering profession. More often than not a Fellows contribution to the profession also benefits New Zealand as a whole, as the work of engineers’ impacts on New Zealand society,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.

Timothy was presented with his Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held at Auckland’s Ellerslie Convention Centre, on Thursday, 17 March 2005.
