Geoff Henderson elected Fellow of IPENZ
March 2005

Geoff Henderson, CEO Director, Windflow Technology Limited, will be elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for his contribution to innovation in the creation of engineering works; specifically recognising his contributions to the development of wind turbine technology.

He is a pioneer in both a technical and business sense; seeking to develop a New Zealand-based business founded on a technology advantage in wind turbine technology. His perseverance since 1990 in the face of considerable skepticism has been outstanding, and without his belief in the long term viability of this renewable energy option it is unlikely that the uptake of wind technology in New Zealand would have occurred on such a broad scale.

“Becoming a Fellow is an honour bestowed by ones professional peers on high-achievers who have made a difference to the engineering profession. More often than not a Fellows contribution to the profession also benefits New Zealand as a whole, as the work of engineers’ impacts on New Zealand society,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.

Geoff was presented with his Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held at Auckland’s Ellerslie Convention Centre, on Thursday, 17 March 2005.
