Michael Haydon elected Fellow of IPENZ
March 2005

Michael Haydon, Technical Services Manager (Operations), Works Infrastructure Ltd, was elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for his contribution to the advancement of engineering practice; specifically recognising his contributions to the development of modern asphaltic paving materials design and practice both in UK and New Zealand.

He is an acknowledged expert on bituminous road surfacing materials and has actively participated in a number of industry technical committees in New Zealand, and as a New Zealand representative in Australia. In addition to his technical leadership he has been instrumental in implementing graduate development programmes within his organisation becoming the first contracting organisation to attain IPENZ endorsed employer status. He is an active graduate mentor, and has served the Institution at branch committee level.

“Becoming a Fellow is an honour bestowed by ones professional peers on high-achievers who have made a difference to the engineering profession. More often than not a Fellows contribution to the profession also benefits New Zealand as a whole, as the work of engineers’ impacts on New Zealand society,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.

Michael was presented with his Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held at Auckland’s Ellerslie Convention Centre, on Thursday, 17 March 2005.
