Peter Geddes elected Fellow of IPENZ
Monday, 28 March 2004
Whangarei engineer, Peter Geddes, Director, Hawthorn Geddes Engineers
and Architects Ltd, will be elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional
Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for his contribution to the application
of engineering and technology in the community; specifically recognising
his contributions to conservation.
In parallel to a busy consulting engineering career he has been active
in the governance of organisations such as Fish and Game NZ and the NZ
Conservation Authority.
He brings the engineering way of thinking to work with such bodies in
a way that assists the care of the environment for the enjoyment of all.
He has contributed heavily to activities of the Northland Branch and actively
mentors young engineers.
“Becoming a Fellow is an honour bestowed by ones professional peers
on high-achievers who have made a difference to the engineering profession.
More often than not a Fellows contribution to the profession also benefits
New Zealand as a whole, as the work of engineers’ impacts on New
Zealand society,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.
Peter will be presented with his Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner
held at Auckland’s Ellerslie Convention Centre, on Thursday, 17
March 2005.
