Tim David elected Fellow of IPENZ
Monday, 28 March 2004

Dr Tim David, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, University of Canterbury, will be elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for his contribution to the advancement of engineering knowledge; specifically recognising his contributions to the development of computational biofluid mechanics.

Since arriving in New Zealand as an engineering professor he has quickly established a major research group in bioengineering, including collaboration with Christchurch Hospital.

Through his reputation as an accomplished researcher he has attracted considerable research funding. As well as demonstrating research excellence he is an academic who truly professes his discipline through wider collegial engagement.

“Becoming a Fellow is an honour bestowed by ones professional peers on high-achievers who have made a difference to the engineering profession. More often than not a Fellows contribution to the profession also benefits New Zealand as a whole, as the work of engineers’ impacts on New Zealand society,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.

Tim will be presented with his Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held at Auckland’s Ellerslie Convention Centre , on Thursday, 17 March 2005.
