Nicola Crauford elected Fellow of IPENZ
Monday, 28 March 2004

Dr Nicola Crauford, Chief Executive Institute of Directors, will be elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for her contribution to leadership in the profession of engineering; specifically her contributions to the recognition of engineering in the business sector.

After success as a senior manager in the electricity industry she has moved to the role of Chief Executive of the Institute of Directors, the first woman to assume this position. She is renowned as a strategic thinker, and an excellent example of how a person educated to PhD level in a technical aspect of engineering can progress their career across to leadership roles. She is a Director of the Centre for Advanced Engineering and is a trustee and member of the Council for UNICEF in NZ.

“Becoming a Fellow is an honour bestowed by ones professional peers on high-achievers who have made a difference to the engineering profession. More often than not a Fellows contribution to the profession also benefits New Zealand as a whole, as the work of engineers’ impacts on New Zealand society,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.

Nicola Crauford was presented with her Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held at Auckland’s Ellerslie Convention Centre, on Thursday, 17 March 2005.
