Robert Blakemore elected Fellow of IPENZ
March 2004

Robert Blakemore, Manager Environmental Training Centre, Opus International Consultants Ltd, will be elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for his contribution to advancement to technological education; specifically recognising his contributions to the development and delivery of education and training programmes in the water industry.

He took a leading role in ascertaining the training needs of the water supply industry, and then designing and establishing delivery systems for the proposed new qualifications.

He is a Past-President of the NZ Water and Waste Association, and served for a number of years on their Board. His expertise was also recognised by inclusion many times on the Ministry of Health Expert Working Group on Drinking Water Standards.

“Becoming a Fellow is an honour bestowed by ones professional peers on high-achievers who have made a difference to the engineering profession. More often than not a Fellows contribution to the profession also benefits New Zealand as a whole, as the work of engineers’ impacts on New Zealand society,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.

Robert will be presented with his Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held at Auckland’s Ellerslie Convention Centre, on Thursday, 17 March 2005.
