| Media Release IPENZ Promotes Neville Beach to Distinguished Fellow Neville Beach is a retired consulting engineer who has a long and distinguished career as a civil engineer in the service of others and to the Engineering profession., has been promoted to the class of Distinguished Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ), for his eminent contribution to leadership in the profession of Engineering and application of engineering in the community, Neville Beach is promoted to the class of Distinguished Fellow Neville Beach has been a quiet achiever as a Professional Engineer and a valued contributor to many IPENZ activities. He has had a varied career as a consulting engineer, both in New Zealand and overseas, culminating in a Directorship of Truebridge, Callender and Beach Ltd. From 1970 to 1974 he was a Director and then Chairman of ENEX New Zealand an organisation set up to promote the export of engineering services to SE Asia. Neville’s expertise in contract dispute resolution is both well known and valued by the profession. His contributions to IPENZ include being a Council member with service as Honorary Secretary/Treasurer and as Executive Vice President. Notably he chaired the IPENZ Ethics committee for some 15 years. In this role he played a major part in developing and gaining acceptance for the Institution’s substantially revised Code of Ethics. Neville has served his community in a number of different roles for over 30 years. He has been an elected member of the Makara Ohariu Community Board and of the Johnsonville Licensing Trust. In 1975 he became a Justice of the Peace. He has served as Vice President of the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs, as a Trustee and currently as Chair of the Wellington Civic Trust. “Distinguished Fellowships are given to those Fellows who are identified by their peers for their outstanding work and eminent contribution in engineering, technology, and science or otherwise,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland. Neville was presented with the Distinguished Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held at Auckland’s Ellerlie Convention Centre, on Thursday, 17 March 2005. Ends |
