| Media Release IPENZ Sponsors Sustainability Conference – 7 – 9 July 2004 Business leaders, politicians, engineers and scientists are attending the International Conference on Sustainability Engineering and Science in Auckland to discuss leading edge sustainable technologies, the application of sustainability engineering, and the tools that can be used to measure sustainability. The conference is hosted by the NZ Society for Sustainability Engineering and Science (NZSSES), a technical Interest Group of The Institution of Professional Engineers – the main sponsor. NZSSES was formed to address the issue of sustainability in New Zealand and Internationally. The co-host is The International Centre for Sustainability Engineering and Research (ICSER), based at Auckland University. “This conference is one of the first of its kind,
bringing together academia and research with those from the corporate
world, and individuals responsible for government policy. As a group we
can discuss the effects on how we do things right, the issues on new technology
and innovation, and what we do beyond technology. This is also a great
forum for various groups to recognize the roles of engineers and scientists,”
said Dr Carol Boyle, Conference Chair and Deputy Director of ICSER.
