Engineers the winner on the day
Monday, 30 August 2004

Last weekend’s Student Engineers’ Symposium paralleled many issues in the real world of engineering, said organiser and engineering student, Emma Bould.

Over 100 engineering students from around New Zealand met in Wellington (28-29 August) for career development, to meet potential employers, and to check out some engineering projects around Wellington – plus the highlight - the Engineers Games held at Hutt Valley High School in Lower Hutt to find the “Engineering Champion.”

“The weather was bleak but after a game of rugby, human foos ball, tug-o-war, and the The Eliminator, a practical engineering course where students reversed trailers, used tools, and started compressors – we were all pretty warmed-up,” said Emma.

The symposium is currently the only event which brings together students from all engineering universities in the country - made possible through the endeavours of Emma Bould (021 129 0413), Wayne Juno (021 147 1850) and our sponsors IPENZ Engineers NZ, MWH, URS Corp, Sinclair Knight Merz, University of Canterbury, Massey University, Lion Breweries and Hire Quip.
