Viv Kloosterman elected Fellow of IPENZ
Friday, 26 March 2004

Viv Kloosterman, Managing Director VK Consulting Environmental Engineers Ltd, has been elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for her contribution to the advancement of engineering practice; specifically recognising her contribution to developing an awareness of ecological management within environmental engineering.

Viv has a strong understanding of how ecology and engineering must meet, particularly in fragile geographic locations such as wetlands and has created innovative designs based on emerging technologies. Her solutions are technically viable, but meet the ecological needs of the land and the values of the local community. Her skill in community consultation has enabled potentially difficult projects to proceed smoothly through the consenting stage. She has also served on an IPENZ accreditation panel and is a member of the Chartered Professional Engineers Council.

“Receiving a Fellowship carries substantial prestige. It is not a reward for long service or for advancement in seniority with one’s employer, rather it is recognition by IPENZ of the contribution of outstanding individuals,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.
