Sharyn Westlake elected Fellow of IPENZ
Friday, 26 March 2004

Sharyn Westlake, Flood Protection Engineer, Greater Wellington Regional Council, was elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for her contribution to the development of the Institution; specifically recognising her representation of young engineers and women.

Sharyn has served for several years on the Committee of the NZ Coastal Society, and has spent four years on the governing Board of IPENZ consistently making positive contributions to the activities of the Board, particularly representing the perspective of young people and women engineers. In 2003 she stepped forward to take the huge task as governing Board representative on the Competence Assessment Board. She has worked tirelessly, and always towards the wider good of the organisation and its Members

“Receiving a Fellowship carries substantial prestige. It is not a reward for long service or for advancement in seniority with one’s employer, rather it is recognition by IPENZ of the contribution of outstanding individuals,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.

Sharyn was presented with her Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held in Christchurch at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, on Thursday, 25 March 2004.
