Len McSaveney elected Fellow of IPENZ
Friday, 26 March 2004

Len McSaveney, Market Development Manager, Golden Bay Cement, was elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for his contribution to creation of technological products and advancement of engineering practice; specifically recognising his contribution to development of many concrete products.

Len has been a leader in development of lightweight structural concrete for a variety of applications. He puts much back into the industry, having been President of the NZ Concrete Society and represented that society internationally. He has contributed to development of the concrete structures standard and the standards for utility service poles. He has passed his knowledge on to students at both Auckland and Canterbury Universities through advisory roles to their research.

“Receiving a Fellowship carries substantial prestige. It is not a reward for long service or for advancement in seniority with one’s employer, rather it is recognition by IPENZ of the contribution of outstanding individuals,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.

Len was presented with his Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held in Christchurch at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, on Thursday, 25 March 2004.
