Ian Shearer elected Fellow of IPENZ
Friday, 26 March 2004

Ian Shearer, Managing Director, Energy Information Services Ltd, was elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for his contribution to advancement of engineering practice and his contribution to development of the Institution; specifically recognising his contribution to development on renewable energy sources and his service to IPENZ .

Ian is a true champion of sustainability, and has been a tireless worker for development of renewable energy sources in a variety of fora. He has been a stalwart for IPENZ; serving on many taskforces and working groups where he has always supported approaches for the public good. He chairs the Engineering Associates Registration Board and has served on many advisory groups to tertiary education providers.

“Receiving a Fellowship carries substantial prestige. It is not a reward for long service or for advancement in seniority with one’s employer, rather it is recognition by IPENZ of the contribution of outstanding individuals,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.

Ian was presented with his Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held in Christchurch at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, on Thursday, 25 March 2004.
