Ian Bywater elected Fellow of IPENZ
Friday, 26 March 2004

Ian Bywater, Managing Director Engenius Solutions, was elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for his contribution to the advancement of engineering practice; specifically recognising his contribution to energy efficiency initiatives and renewable energy production.

Ian has provided strong leadership in developing energy-efficient show homes and under his guidance one of the earliest commercial wind generators in New Zealand was installed. He has worked tirelessly to advance engineering practices that would enable solar and biomass energy to be used on a wider scale. Ian has also contributed to various Branch Committees and as a competence assessor and mentor for IPENZ. He is a true champion of sustainable engineering practices.

“Receiving a Fellowship carries substantial prestige. It is not a reward for long service or for advancement in seniority with one’s employer, rather it is recognition by IPENZ of the contribution of outstanding individuals,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.

Ian was presented with his Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held in Christchurch at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, on Thursday, 25 March 2004.
