Howard Justice elected Fellow of IPENZ
Friday, 26 March 2004

Howard Justice, was elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for his contribution to the advancement of engineering practice and to development of the Institution; specifically recognising his leadership in resolving challenging issues on major hydro-electric projects, and his tireless work for the Canterbury Branch.

As the senior engineer at both Pukaki and Clyde Howard led teams who met and resolved severe technical difficulties, including working over the river channel fault at the latter site. At Clyde he introduced new safety procedures which were instrumental in significantly decreasing the frequency of lost time incidents. He has also contributed to development of standards and has sought to develop Branch networks of the Institution – at Clyde, and more recently through sterling service on the Canterbury Branch Committee.

“Receiving a Fellowship carries substantial prestige. It is not a reward for long service or for advancement in seniority with one’s employer, rather it is recognition by IPENZ of the contribution of outstanding individuals,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.

Geoff was presented with his Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held in Christchurch at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, on Thursday, 25 March 2004.
