To be chosen as the young engineer each of the three finalists had to give a ten-minute presentation discussing a project they had direct and substantial involvement in. The audience of their peers were asked to judge the presentations and so contributed to the final 20% of the Award judging. In judging the award consideration was also given to the young engineers professional and academic achievements, broader community involvement, cultural and sporting achievements and the involvement in a particular engineering or technology project.

“The IPENZ Young Engineer of the Year Award is a prestigious honour and reflects the respect their professional peers have for their abilities,” said IPENZ Deputy Chief Executive, John Gardiner.
