William Studd elected Fellow of IPENZ
Friday, 26 March 2004

William (Bill) Studd, Executive Chairman of Windsor Engineering Group Ltd, was elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for his contribution to innovation in the development of technological products; specifically recognising his work in developing timber drying kilns. He has established an engineering team who have developed innovative designs and sound manufacturing methods so that his company’s timber drying kilns and other products are sold in many countries.

Bill has been willing to try new things in his research and development programme, and has not been deterred from his belief in technical excellence and innovation, even when things did not go as expected. He works collaboratively with others in New Zealand industry, and provides a role model for how an innovative engineer can contribute significantly to growth in New Zealand’s economy.

“Receiving a Fellowship carries substantial prestige. It is not a reward for long service or for advancement in seniority with one’s employer, rather it is recognition by IPENZ of the contribution of outstanding individuals,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.

William was presented with his Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held in Christchurch at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, on Thursday, 25 March 2004.
