Ross Green elected Fellow of IPENZ
Friday, 26 March 2004

Ross Green Managing Director, Wellington (WDTL), was elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for his contribution to innovation in the creation of technological products; specifically recognising his leading role in developing a range of efficient and quiet electric motors for the appliance market.

Ross has combined a real acumen for business leadership with strong knowledge of technology transfer processes and an understanding of strategic partnerships to bring about a real turnaround in the performance of Wellington Drive Technologies Ltd. He has carefully managed the intellectual property regarding electronic control of motors to create an internationally competitive range of products sold in a number of international markets. He is an exemplar of the new breed of business engineer – epitomising how far New Zealand engineers with strong technology knowledge can go when they develop matching commercial skills.

“Receiving a Fellowship carries substantial prestige. It is not a reward for long service or for advancement in seniority with one’s employer, rather it is recognition by IPENZ of the contribution of outstanding individuals,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.

Ross was presented with his Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held in Christchurch at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, on Thursday, 25 March 2004.
