Paul Sampson - 2004 Supreme Technical Award

Paul Sampson is the District Engineer for Rotorua District Council, has won the Infrastructure, Utilities and Transport category of the 2004 IPENZ Supreme Technical Awards for Engineering Achievers, sponsored by Opus International Consultants.

Paul is responsible for all infrastructural assets of the Rotorua District Councl. He provides strategic advice to Council and the public on assets such as urban design, urban transportation, rural roading and water and waste water. Vice president of Ingenium from 1997 to 2003 Paul has served on a number of technical working parties at a national level and is currently a member of the Transfund Working Group.

The Infrastructure, Utilities and Transport category includes engineering, design, construction and operation of all forms of infrastructure, utilities and transport. It includes: road, rail, air and shipping industries as well as water and wastewater services, and the non-electrical elements of electricity generation and transmission.

There are eight categories of the Supreme Technical awards which were presented at the Awards Dinner, during the IPENZ Convention at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Christchurch on March 25.
