Geoff Sidwell elected Fellow of IPENZ
Friday, 26 March 2004

Geoff Sidwell, Senior Associate Connell Wagner, was elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for his contribution to the advancement of engineering practice; specifically recognising his leadership in developing models for analysing structures with wind and seismic loads.

Geoff has actively promoted the use of computer-based analytical tools, particularly in the field of non-linear seismic analysis, a specialist area in which he has an international reputation. He has shared his knowledge through working diligently on industry and standards technical committees over many years. He is a willing mentor of younger engineers, and passes on his knowledge freely for the shared good of the profession.

“Receiving a Fellowship carries substantial prestige. It is not a reward for long service or for advancement in seniority with one’s employer, rather it is recognition by IPENZ of the contribution of outstanding individuals,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.

Geoff was presented with his Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held in Christchurch at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, on Thursday, 25 March 2004.
