Dene Cook elected Fellow of IPENZ
Friday, 26 March 2004

Dene Cook, Project Manager, Cement and Concrete Association NZ, was elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for his contribution to the advancement of engineering practice; specifically recognising his contribution to development of standards for concrete construction.

Dene is a leading structural engineer, known for his forward-looking approach to the use of concrete. He has played a leading role in the preparation and delivery of submissions on structural issues and chaired the NZS 3101 Concrete Structures Standard Technical Committee. This was a substantial task, performed in a most professional manner. He also contributes to other Standards committees. He has been active as a member and Chair of the Canterbury Structural Group.

“Receiving a Fellowship carries substantial prestige. It is not a reward for long service or for advancement in seniority with one’s employer, rather it is recognition by IPENZ of the contribution of outstanding individuals,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.

Dene was presented with his Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held in Christchurch at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, on Thursday, 25 March 2004.
