Dale Turkington elected Fellow of IPENZ
Friday, 26 March 2004

Dale Turkington, Project Director, Beca Carter and Hollings and Ferner Ltd, was elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for his contribution to the advancement of engineering practice; specifically recognising his leadership in projects involving complex structural engineering design.

Many stand-out projects including the Auckland Sky Tower and Macau Tower bear testament to his ability to lead teams producing prize-winning, highly intricate designs. He is called on widely for this skill, and designs for which he is responsible have won numerous awards. He chairs the NZ Building Industry Documentation Working Party whose documents have received widespread acclaim for their quality. This had led to him being invited to chair an international working party to develop the definition of Scope of Services.

“Receiving a Fellowship carries substantial prestige. It is not a reward for long service or for advancement in seniority with one’s employer, rather it is recognition by IPENZ of the contribution of outstanding individuals,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.

Dale was presented with his Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held in Christchurch at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, on Thursday, 25 March 2004.
