Boyd Miller elected Fellow of IPENZ

Boyd Miller, Senior Engineer Design Services, Watercare Services Ltd, was elected a Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for his contribution to leadership in the profession of engineering; specifically recognising his role in developing the NZ Water and Waste Association.

In parallel with a successful career in water, wastewater and municipal engineering Boyd has served as a tireless volunteer. He was one of the champions of the amalgamation of smaller groups to for the NZ Water and Waste Association, and was its President for three years. During this time it grew in professionalism and influence. He has sought to broker international and national collaboration arrangements for the greater good of the water and wastewater industry. He has been heavily involved in developing good practice guidelines.

“Receiving a Fellowship carries substantial prestige. It is not a reward for long service or for advancement in seniority with one’s employer, rather it is recognition by IPENZ of the contribution of outstanding individuals,” said IPENZ Chief Executive, Andrew Cleland.

Boyd was presented with his Fellowship at the IPENZ Awards Dinner held in Christchurch at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, on Thursday, 25 March 2004.
