Applying for Admission to a Competence Based Register

IPENZ administers of range of current competence registers for professional engineers, engineering technologists and engineering technicians.

IPENZ recognises assessments to the same level of competence that have been conducted in other jurisdictions.  If you have been previously assessed elsewhere, check the credit for registrants from other jurisdictions to see if your assessment is recognised, before proceeding.

Assessment for Admission candidates

Download the forms required for making an application:-

• The application form (CA01) .
• The competence self-review form (CA03).  A copy of the completed competence self-review form must be sent to each referee for their use when completing the referee evaluation documentation.
• The work history summary (CA04) form.
• A summary of CPD activities (CA05)
• Referee declaration and evaluation forms (CA06) . These must be completed by referees and sent directly to IPENZ.
• Competence assessment reference guide – this is a reference document to assist applicants in preparing their portfolio of evidence for assessment.

Continued Registration Candidates

• The application form (CA02) .
• The CRA competence self-review form (CA13). A copy of the completed competence self-review form must be sent to each referee for their use when completing the referee evaluation documentation.

Annual Fees

Annual fees are payable on invoice.  Once an engineer has met the requirements for admission to a register, he/she will be registered for the remainder of the current calendar year without charge.  Fees for the next calendar year will be invoiced in October – unless the engineer gains entry after October when the invoiced at the time of entry to the register.
