Introduction
The Chartered Professional Engineer register is presented in four parts:
- Those CPEng holding current annual practising certificates
- Those CPEng whose registration is in abeyance (i.e. people who are regarded as currently competent, but do not hold an annual practising certificate and are not entitled to use the title CPEng).
- Those CPEng whose registration is suspended
- Those engineers who have been subject of a disciplinary order within the last three years in respect of the Chartered Professional Engineers of New Zealand Act 2002 (and who may or may not now be a CPEng).
Part 1 is most relevant for checking whether a person currently registered as a CPEng. Parts 2, 3 and 4 enable checks to be made on engineers who were at one stage a CPEng but may not currently hold an annual practising certificate, or who may not now be CPEng.
