| Young Engineers Paper If you are an engineer and a member of IPENZ under the age of 30*, you are a special individual. You are full of ideas, enthusiasm and have a unique way of viewing the world. The Young Engineers Paper was part of the President's Initiative of The Year of the Young Engineer. The paper was open to IPENZ Members under the age of 30. The five finalists made presentations of a 700-800 word paper at Vision 20/20 - Investing in the Future (Convention 2007). Peter Jackson, past President of the Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand Inc. and initiator of the Year of the Young Engineer, on Friday 23 March 2007 announced Tiffany Lester as the Winner of the Inaugural Young Engineer Essay competition, entitled "The Value of IPENZ in the Year 2020". He went on to say that her submission was a very perceptive and reflective look at how the role of engineers might change in the next decade and how IPENZ might then need to change in response. Tiffany's address was also well-rehearsed and delivered with good audience engagement.
