Ian Maitland

Graduated with honours degree in civil engineering from University of Adelaide in 1962.

Early professional career in Adelaide, Melbourne, Montreal and London.

From 1970 to 1990 manager/managing director of the Western Australian office of a large multi-discipline national consulting company.

In private practice since 1990, trading as Maitland Consulting Structural Engineering (MCSE).  Specializes in structural engineering for heritage projects and investigation of structural failures and building problems generally.

Heritage work now constitutes the majority of MCSE's activities.  Apart from St George's Cathedral, significant projects include Raine Square Redevelopment Perth, Point Cloates Lighthouse, E Shed relocation Fremantle, and numerous churches, town halls and many structures on Rottnest Island.

Clients include Heritage Council of Western Australia, National Trust of Australia, and many state and local government authorities, heritage organisations, heritage architects and owners of heritage listed properties.

Member of Rottnest Island Cultural Heritage Advisory Committee since 2003.

Board Member of WA State Supply Commission 1998 - 2002.
